Your podcast guesting pitch
A legit podcast guesting pitch is not a copy-and-paste approach. However, having a pre-written vault stacked with skeleton pitches for internal use is absolutely smart!
Once you have identified your guesting goals, ideal audience, and written your media hooks, you are ready to draft your podcast pitch.
Writing Your Podcast Guesting Pitch
These ‘skeleton pitches’ are only intended for you as a behind-the-scenes tool. Think of this as a blueprint ‘pitch prep’ you can build-out.
Your generic templated podcast pitches should be specific to show categories, target audiences, topics, and talking points. Preparing these upfront will save you time later so you aren’t reinventing the wheel every single time.
I suggest pulling copy from your personal brand bible, one sheet, and online media kit so what you have is consistent with your messaging and positioning.
4 Steps before writing your pitch:
This is your chance to crosscheck and verify. Think of it a bit like reverse engineering. If this pitch came into your inbox and you would respond with ‘so what/ who cares’ its time to re-think and create something that really speaks to the host.
- Value: What’s in it for the listener? Be crystal clear on what you bring (don’t make the host work to guess).
- Results: What will the audience learn or do as a result of hearing from you?
- Why you: Reference your unique story & credibility markers
- Concise: Keep it scannable so the host can get the gist in a few lines
